A "Frozen" Kind of Christmas...Lights, Music and Disney!

When I seen one Frozen light display story in the headlines, I knew there had to be other families doing the same. Sure enough, families across America are utilizing the "Let it Go" phenomenon and delighting kids with some fabulous light displays. Here are just a few.

Here are a few other videos. One direct from the Magic Castle and another is Idina Menzel and Jennifer Nettles singing Let it Go on the CMA Christmas Special. I really enjoyed that performance.

PS: I have to admit, the movie Frozen and a stuffed Olaf are on my Christmas Wish list.

Witches, Candy and Videos Galore!!

Halloween is just a week away and  things are finally starting to look and feel spooktacular around here. My decorations are done, I've crafted a bit, I've cooked a few pumpkin cookies and I just received an email that the Hallmark Channel is going to air a new movie in "The Good Witch" series. This years movie is called "The Good Witch's Destiny". The details about the movie read:

All Cassie Nightingale (Catherine Bell) wants for her birthday is for her family and friends to be together. While her husband Jake (Chris Potter) suggests an intimate dinner at a fancy restaurant in their hometown of Middleton, Cassie would rather have a party at The Grey House, with all her loved ones in attendance. And since Jake's kids, Brandon (Matthew Knight) and Lori (Hannah Endicott-Douglas), are growing up with lives of their own, it might be their last chance to unite as a family for a long time.

As Cassie's special day is fast approaching, Lori discovers disturbing parallels between Cassie and Cassie's great aunt, nicknamed the Grey Lady, who disappeared at her own birthday party years before. With signs of a curse looming over her, it's clear that Cassie needs to conjure up more than a little magic to make things right again. Is there birthday magic in the air or is it a birthday curse?

I also seen a great Halloween video today. This one stars an amazing little boy. I think I like it so much, because it reminds me of my daughter. This is something she would totally have done when she was little.

Every year super light shows flood youtube for Halloween. This year one house in particular has caught my attention, because they have a little bit of everything for everyone. Fun and Spooky!!

Hope you had a great Wednesday and I'll be back with more Halloween fun tomorrow.

Christmas with Norman Rockwell

I was reading an article today about a Norman Rockwell exhibit opening today, at the LDS Church history museum in Utah. It reminded me of a Christmas book my daughter bought for me a few years ago, that was titled with Norman Rockwell. My copy is dated 1977 and shows a bit of wear on the outer jacket.

It's not your typical Christmas book, with crafts and recipes, it's more like a compilation book of great stories, poems, music and photos from some great classics. It has writings from William Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Louisa May Alcott and many more. In addition to all the writings, it has 95 Norman Rockwell pictures. When I pulled out the book, I realized, like many I've grown up seeing the photos of Norman Rockwell, but not really knowing the story or Norman Rockwell. So my goal tonight was to look up some history and research some of his Christmas paintings. I've come to the conclusion, I enjoy his silly side. I enjoy those silly moments in life he represents. Here are a few examples.

To me, these really represent the love and smiles that seem to flow at Christmas.

Some of my choices are repeated, but here's a wonderful slide show, that shows a large portion of his Christmas collection.

In Stockbridge, Massachusetts, his hometown, they even do a life like recreation every year of his famous painting "Stockbridge, Main Street at Christmas". You can also visit the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, where they house the largest collection of his work.

If you'd like to learn more about "America's Painter", here's a LINK to a great video from the Bio channel.

And last, but not least, of course in today's society, fans can find ANYTHING on Facebook. So if you'd like a daily dose of Norman, you can join the Fan Page

Christmas with the Osmonds

First, I'd like to give a "shout-out" to my friend Tammy. She's the big Osmond fan around here, so slowly it's sorta rubbed off. Over the years, I've had a ton of fun celebrating her "appreciation" for Donny and Marie in various ways. In Salt Lake last week, while attending Man in the Moon, I crossed paths with David Osmond many times, so I kept texting to give her Osmond updates. Unfortunately, I never did have a Donny or Marie spotting...LOL

Added Note: (I was looking at a friends Man In The Moon photo album and found this picture of David. Apparently he was acting as a host during a couple of the smaller lectures I didn't attend. To bad for me!! )

When I started thinking about it more last night, I was wondering, why he was around so much but not an "official" guest. When investigating, I ran across a couple Christmas songs of his that are very good, including one he sang for Glenn's show one day. For those of you who are "Beckies" he had a link to TheBlaze on his Facebook page, so that explains it..He's a fan!

If you are a fan of the entire family, did you know you can watch entire episodes of their old Christmas specials on YouTube? What would the 70's been, without an Osmond Christmas Special?

Duck The Halls

Attention all Duck Dynasty Fans!! It's June and we have something to look forward to in October. Let the countdown begin for DUCK THE HALLS...Yes, DUCK THE HALLS!! I had the best laugh this morning when I heard on the radio, that the Robertson family is releasing a Christmas CD. A variety CD of sorts they say, with lots of surprises and some special guest. I've got 3 on my gift list already. Next thing I know, I'll be out buying a duck hunting snowman for my yard!!

I'm not a big country fan normally, but I have to admit I really like the Darius Rucker song Wagon Wheel. It also happens to feature the Robertson family. I seen the premiere of the video on the show, but finally heard it on the radio last week.

Halloween...OLD SCHOOL!

These videos all bring back a lot of memories.
Love me some Mc Hammer and Fresh Prince!

I also loved the Munster  and Addams Family growing up as a kid. I remember having lunch at my grandmas and making sure I was on that couch at the same time every day. I couldn't forget them.

Some Halloween Videos to Make you Smile!!

1st I have to start with this Ellen video. When she posted it last week, I was laughing hysterically. Can you imagine how you would handle having a "crazy" teacher like this?

This light show video is making the rounds today, but if you've not seen it yet, take the time to check it out. It's a Christmas light show, gone Halloween.

Here's some scary Halloween music...RUNNNN!!!

I don't know how they do this, but this is my favorite. Very cool.

Christmas in July: Day 6 - Funny, Funny Video.

This isn't exactly based around Christmas, however one of my friends online just posted this and it hits home, so I have to share. For all others how are card addicts, you will understand. For those of you who could care less, this might enlighten you to the raw emotions we experience when card shopping each holiday season.

Is it funny enough? Is it to serious? Will they be offended? Will it send the wrong message? Will they still know I love them if I send a funny card and not a serious card? Are they tired of serious cards yet? Should I try a musical card? Oh...I can even skip the stamp now...almost forgot! I don't want that envelope, I want the purple envelope!  .99 cent cards will send the wrong message. No way..will I pay 5.99 for a card..even if I do love him that much! To many decisions is what it is....
